About the speakers

Gina Cano is a worker leader from the garment factory Hugger de Honduras in Choloma, Honduras.  Before its closing, Gina had worked at Hugger–a Nike-certified factory–for many years where she produced, among other items, Nike collegiate apparel.  As a member of a worker organizing committee affiliated with the Central General de Trabajadores (CGT) garment union federation, Gina organized with her coworkers to exercise their associational rights.

Lowlee Urquia is a worker leader from the garment factory Vision Tex in Choloma, Honduras.  Lowlee had worked at Vision Tex for many years before it was closed in January, 2009.  Lowlee was active in the leadership of the Central General de Trabajadores (CGT) garment union federation at her factory.

Rosa Lozano is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland and was an active member of her university’s USAS affiliate.  She has been speaking with the Nike Truth Tour and providing the translation.

Rod Palmquist is the International Campaigns Coordinator for USAS and is responsible for organizing campaigns in solidarity with garment workers, such as student efforts to affiliate with the Worker Rights Consortium and to adopt the Designated Suppliers Program.
